I have sat and wondered over the last two weeks, "What will it take?' 'What will it take to cause this nation, and freedom-loving people around this "dark, terrestrial ball", as Joseph Addison once called it, to unite together against the onslaught of this malevolent nightmare now approaching. This thing, this Islamism, this evil against civilization?' " The thought that the only thing that would make people do so would be an attack with WMD that would take out an American or European city, due to the collective realization that our survival would be at stake, is the obvious one at first blush. However, the fact that so many despise the very liberty that past generations have earned through blood, convinces me that, alone, the fear of lost civilization would drive too many to simply acquiesce, just surrender. Recriminations of left against right, and vice-versa, would be heard constantly, and the noise would be deafening.
So what is the solution? For once, I guess the old Crusaders may have had something going up there in their "medulla oblongata." The symbol of the Cross is a good one to rally around, and may be the only effective response from the West, and those in the Third World who would stand for liberty.
So, as of today, I am leaving Townhall. I am not interested in being part of a limited crowd of people who spend their time just talking to each other. So, off I go, back to Blogger, to MySpace, to Orkut, to Friendster, to Gazzag, to Zanga. I'll be quite busy, I think. And I'll possibly be doing some importing of articles, RSS, podcasts, etc., from Townhall into my blog sites. But I'll tell you, I'm leaving the safe confines. I'm going to where the people in need are. I'll thank you in advance for your resources, but just the same, goodbye for now, and Adios.
